[net.lsi] Fault Tolerant Systems

mookken@ut-ngp.UUCP (03/01/86)

I got to do a survey on fault tolerance. I am looking
for information on experimental and commercial
fault tolerant systems. If any of you, out there in netland,
have come across any novel ideas or papers on any aspect
of fault tolerance please send me e-mail. I have already
got material like Ieee FTC and the like.

Thank you.

I also have a need to know what fault tolerant hardware is
available. Are there any real differences as far as reliability
and cost of ownership between a fault tolerant box (ie. IBM
system 88) and a fault tolerant system (ie. DEC Vax equipment
with Vax-cluster)? What are the gotcha's and trade-offs?
