Is anyone out there in netland interested in a newsgroup to
report river levels and such? For example:
I ran the Boreas river in the Adirondaks (NY) this weekend at -1 foot
on the Minerva bridge gauge. The Hudson was at 4.8 feet.
The Boreas could have used a bit more water, but it was a good class 4
run. Very technical.

Paddlers awaken! I am an avid paddler in the Washington, DC/West
Virginia area, and am willing to trade info of all types about paddling --
the boats, the rivers, the equipment, etc. I personally am most crazy
about whitewater, but love all non-motorized boating.

First and foremost -- if any paddler is ever traveling to the DC area for
fun or business, do check out the Potomac River starting from below
Great Falls (I said BELOW Great Falls) to Angler's Inn. It is fun
after many other rivers have run dry, is a short distance from town,
and NO shuttle is required. What this amounts to is an incredibly
convenient "getaway" offering the opportunity
to surf a fun rapid after work, after class, whenever there is only a
short opportunity available. Yes, rental equipment is available, so you
don't have to pack your boat on the plane.

Fans of paddling, respond to me via mail, or news if you cannot reach
me via one of our many connections to the net. If the response is good,
I will give the details on how to make use of the Potomac while in town.
