A question for boaters or whomever might know --
I'm scheduled to kayak the Grand Canyon this summer. Myself and my friends
are generally short of vacation time and would like to at least consider flying
there (from Washington, DC). The problem? How do we get our kayaks there?
What alternatives are there for shipping a kayak cross-country? What are
the costs and times involved? What type of packing is necssary?
For non-paddlers who might help out, a kayak is about 13 feet by 2 feet
by 3 feet, about 25-30 pounds, and is sturdy, though it doesn't like to
get dropped from heights, crushed by great weights, or pierced by cargo hooks.
