I've just read about an interesting gizmo that you attach to an outboard that is supposed to lift the back end of the boat and thus get you up on plane faster. Dolefin is the name given. My proposed use is an inflatable Zodiac boat. When it gets loaded with SCUBA gear and divers it won't get up on plane. It does, however, lift its nose very high but won't quite break over into plane. (For those of you not familiar with Zodiac, it is a very tough inflatable) (boat with a plywood floor. It weighs 160lbs and is rated for up to) (a 55hp outboard. I use a 25hp. Top speed with 25hp is ~20knots.)
