This past boating season, I sailed (along with three other boats) from Sodus Bay New York (East of Rochester on Lake Ontario) up to Kingston, Ontario and then The Thousand Islands where we had green navigational buoys rather than black. To respond to John Crocker's question re: green buoys (vs. black), a subjective opinion of course, but I found the green buoys much easier to spot especially in bright sunlight than the black ones. (Yes, contrary to everything you hear, we do have sunshine in this part of the country too.) I did not fully realize the impact of green buoys until I returned to U.S. waters and the black buoys. It was then I appreciated how much better (I believe) the green are over black buoys. as ever, j.r. (Skipper of The Flying Cloud) {allegra, seismo}!rochester!ritcv!jrc P.S. For you lucky ones, be happy. We pulled my boat out of the water for the Winter last weekend.
