[net.rec.boat] Winter Whitewater

mikeq@tektronix.UUCP (Mike Quigley) (11/16/83)

Attention Pacific Northwest whitewater rafters, kayakers, canoeists!

If you think that our sport is only for hot summer days and
warm beaches, you haven't heard about the NWRA (Northwest Rafters
Association) yet. We're two years old, about 350 strong, and growing.
Enjoyment of the sport of whitewater (year around!) and river
preservation are our focus.

We do day and multi-day trips on regional rivers virtually every
weekend both winter and summer. Winter trips are especially
neat because the permit/people hassle is gone (of course, you have to
be dressed appropriate for the season). Upcoming will be a four-day
trip down the Rogue over Thanksgiving.

So, don't put away your gear just because the snow is
flying and days are short. There's something about that facefull
of water that turns to a sheet of ice before it has had a chance
to drip off!

For more information about our wintertime activities,
write NWRA, P.O. Box 19008, Portland, Oregon 97219 or call Al Ainsworth
(503) 246-0386.
