[net.rec.boat] New Years Day - Polar Bears?

jimb@tekcbi.UUCP (Jim Boland) (12/18/85)

Once again, New Years Day is approaching. That means that winter
is here, but that spring (and summer is on it's way). Some people
who like summer type sports are itching to get out. So, once again,
The Polar Bear Clubs are going to have their "let's go waterskiing,
jetskiing, just have fun" day once again at Willamette Park on the
Willamette River in Portland on New Years Day. Fun(?) starts around
10-11 with show ski exhibitions and such. Anyone can participate.
Just bring your own equipment (boat, driver, etc.). Nothing formal.
Nothing organized. Just like a typical day (summer) on the river.
There will also be a race to see who can ski from the park to the
Ross Island Bridge and back in the shortest period of time.
Only one rule - you have to get in the water, sometime. Water temp
could be somewhere around 40 degrees F. Kinda depends on the weather
around that time. Come on out and have fun or have more fun by watching
these "crazies" as they ask themselves "Why are we doing this, anyway"?
It's free.
