[net.rec.boat] Windsurfers Cross Atlantic, east to west

snell@utzoo.UUCP (Richard Snell) (02/19/86)

The following is an AP news item, with accompanying photo, which appeared on
19 Feb 1986 in _The_Toronto_Star. Such fun.
The windsurfer appears to be little more than 1 metre wide, and perhaps
5 metres long. The sails appear to be about 5 metres high.

Frenchmen Alain Pichavant and Stephane Peyron arrive in Guadeloupe
after making the first east-west crossing of the Atlantic on a tandem
surfboard. The journey from Dakar, Senegal, took 24 days, 15 hours
and 20 minutes, covering 4,900 kilometres.
