[net.rec.boat] Catalina 22 Modifications

scott@ukecc.UUCP (Scott Sendlein) (03/10/86)

I have a Catalina 22 and am interested in rigging it for some single-handed
sailing. I have some Ideas as to how I might do this but would sure like the
oportunity to talk to someone who has actually made these mods (such as running
all sail controls back to the cockpit). Input from anyone with a comparable
sized boat would also be appreciated but I am chiefly concerned with some of
the structural problems that may be created (for instance, with mounting
winches pm the pop-top).

Thanks,

I have a sirius, which was designed
by the same person as the Catalina,
that I did that to a couple years ago.
I placed blocks at the foot of the
mast, lined up turning blocks with a
winch on the deck house roof. I placed
this winch to the starboard of the pop-
top so it would not interfier with its
operation. A couple stoppers and a halyard
bag completed the project. Works great
    good luck and good sailing.
