[net.politics] cars versus mass transit: cost of MY time

riks (12/07/82)

When I include the cost of my (the commuter) time, mass transit is a huge
win. I can take a journal or a novel or a pad of stationery with me on the
bus. Even though the elapsed time from home to work is greater, the
amount of time wasted is miniscule.

I would be very uncomfortable if very many drivers read CACM on their way
to work.

Still, I do not hesitate to drive when I plan to do other errands on either
end of the day.

The choice is great.
