I am very worried about the taxation system, the welfare system, and the political system of this country. I see politicians playing Robin Hood by taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Either the middle-class is rich and is hiding it somewhere or the government is not playing the game right. First, the taxation system needs a complete overhaul. Taxing people on what they earn, what they spend, what they own, and what they save (taxes on interest) is an unforgiveable system. I think it should be a simple income percentage system and no sales tax or property tax or whatever tax. Now if we could get the politicians to agree. Second, the welfare system needs to be handled in a much better manner. There are too many people collecting illegally because of the inefficiency of the system's record checking practices. My suggested solution is to have people on welfare (with some exceptions) report to training sessions. These training sessions would serve two purposes. One, to train people for better jobs thus helping to ease the unemployment and industry's cries about there not being enough people. Two, a person could only show up in one place and thus only collect the one check he is entitled to. Does anybody see any problems with this? Lastly, it seems all politicians are entangled in many favors because of the compromise system I see used to get things done. (In other words, the I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine system.) I have no solution for this because any shortcuts would leave an untrained person in a political position. Note that these are only my opinions. Any comments should be other opinions and not flames. Bill Backus houxa!bgb
