Now is your chance to do real alternative service for your country: Stopping
the rising Reagan repression of progressive groups and views, by joining the
FEDERAL PRISONS EXPEDITIONARY FORCES.
1) The FPEF intends to deny the Reagan Regime the use of the Federal Prison
system by physically occupying as many as possible of the limited number of
cells available for use against Reagan's political enemies.
2) The Federal Prisons Expeditionary Forces will materially divert funds from
Reagan's Defense Budget. It has been estimated that 15 conscientious objectors
occupying federal cells for a year (or 1,750 busted protestors being processed
for one day) cost the government the equivalent of one A-7 jet for Honduras.
3) An infusion of young, idealistic, pacifist political prisoners will upgrade
the public image of the entire Prison Population, besides giving the System the
black eye it deserves. Instead of seeing in their mind's eye images of
unsavory drug dealers and Mafiosi, what will come across to Mr. and Mrs. Public
will be TV spots showing attractive, middle-class kids being led away for
committing an imaginary crime: resisting a draft that doesn't even exist.
That's right, Vista and the Peace Corps may be on the way out, but in these
days of unemployment, Reagan and Bush are holding a few cells open for us, and
we intend to take them up on it.
Are you 18 to 21 years old, worried about the world situation? 18 months at
a typical federal facility offers a Hell of a lot more security than winding up
as a bloodstain on a mountain in Afghanistan, or another statistic from El
Salvador.
The Federal Prisons Expeditionary Forces intent to enlist the thousands upon
thousands of people who have nothing to do but hang out anyway, to mold them
into a mobile strike force, to use the draft and other laws such as marijuana
prohibition to seize the courts and occupy the prisons. Just as Seabrook
protestors occupied the New Hampshire armories for 14 days and bankrupted the
state, the FPEF will determine who is to be prosecuted instead of the govern-
ment, and force them to give 3 squares a day to the broad masses, instead of
getting over with this Selective Prosecution bullshit.
