Now, where are your reports about how the court system deals with assaults on Jews in, say, Syria? Where are your ringing condemnations of the USSR's court system's treatment of its "prisoners of conscience"? What about Iranian courts? Oh, haven't we already heard this silly argument before? Am I to assume that your support for Israel is based on it not being the ABSOLUTE WORST place in the world? It's important for people to know what goes on there -- particularly considering the immense amount of propaganda concerning Israel's "equal" treatment of its Arabs and its "liberal" occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, the Golan Heights, and southern Lebanon (my! isn't the list getting long!). If you still think it makes a difference (and besides, I'm sure it would be of significance in its own right) you're welcome to monitor the judicial systems of other countries. Are you sure your examples are reflective of the general trend, or are you picking extremes? Giving one example from each side isn't enough. Yes, the examples reflect the general trend as far as I can tell (and I have access to A LOT of information on these matters). These are by no means isolated cases, and many other similar ones can be found. In fact, almost all of what I send to the net is taken from articles in the Israeli press decrying the phenomena these examples illustrate. There ARE such things as other considerations, which were referred to. I'm sure there are -- subdue the Arabs. Yigal Arens UC Berkeley (soon USC)
