The successful first test launch of the U.S. Air Force Peacekeeper (WARSTARTER) MX ICBM June 17 is a key milestone in President Regan's program to modernize (EXPAND) America's strategic forces. The 4,000-mile flight from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, to Kwajalein Missle Range demonstrated the satisfac- tory performance of all four stages of the missle and its re-entry systems (BOMBS). Martin Marietta is proud to be a prin- cipal member of the industrial team (MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX) supporting the U.S. Air FOrce in this endevor (INSANITY). Most experts (even the Scowcroft Committee) think that big missiles with lots of MIRV warheads are destablilizing. So why are we building it ? To demonstrate our will to proceed with modernizing our forces, which should inspire the Soviets to do likewise.
