A recent submission included the following: Almost all of the "pro-choice" people offend me by claiming that there is a "right to have an abortion" which includes someone else paying for it. If there is any such right, it, like the right to own property only means the right to get it in a way that doesn't infringe other's rights. This argument has been used for everything from the Vietnam War to cigarettes (in fact, I've used it myself). But the fact of the matter is: we ALL pay for things we don't like. You can't please all of the people all of the time and the government proves it every day. If everyone had the right to refuse to pay for government services they didn't approve of, the result would be...well, what do YOU think the result would be? I think it would be nice if anti-abortionists were not forced to subsidize something they detest. I also think it would be nice if I had the same right. Unfortunately, I can think of no way to reasonably implement such a system. Maybe someone else can (I know you'll try).
