[net.politics] Reps'n'Dems

keithl@tekcad.UUCP (08/08/83)

Republicans versus Democrats, eh?
Let us consider the political system as a programmable machine.
One bit. Binary choice. Sounds like a poorly implemented Turing machine to me.
Have you ever computed your baud rate into the political system (collective
votes)? The baud rate out (speeches, spending, laws)?
How about preventive maintenance? The machine is serviced only partially
once a year. No benchmarks. No run-time diagnostics. Occasionally it goes
haywire and kills people.
And folks spend a lot of time arguing about which set of stuck-at faults
should be built into the system.
If the government was sold as a computer, how would it fare in net.micro?

I could go on, but I'll leave the fun to the rest of the net.

-With shabby trenchcoat, hirsute face, bomb in one hand,
            and shaving cream pie in the other;
