Much food for thought: If we are really want to have an objective point of view, what is the difference between having US nuclear warheads in West Germany and having Soviet nuclear warheads in Cuba? I think us "westerners" tend to forget that the Soviets have, and always have had, enemies and other unstable countries on their borders. China, Germany, Japan, the Middle East are historical examples. The US, on the other hand, except for our early history and the Alaska - Siberia Bering Straight, has a pretty protected environment. Remember, also, that Russia was a country long before the US and they have had many more wars fought on their soil. Do they have more reason to be paranoid than we do? Hope everyone takes time to digest this before they ignite the flamethrowers! To answer most ignorant and hostile attacks on myself in advance: 1- No, I am not a communist. 2- No, I would consider myself politically conservative. 3- No, I do not work for the KGB. 4- No, I have never invited Fidel Castro over for dinner. 5- No, I do not like anchovies on my pizza.
