#N:uokvax:5000011:000:1429 uokvax!andree Nov 4 23:34:00 1983 I just blundered into net.politics (I've been avoiding anything that sounded like it would be time-consuming lately), and I would like to congratulate the contributers (whom now include me) on putting out the most amusing newsgroup, and the best computer game I've seen in a LONG time. [:-)] To add my thoughts to the list, I will state that I think (contingent on new facts coming in) that 1) Having a US presence in Lebanon is a good idea, and 2) The US invasion of Grenada is likewise a good idea. Now, as to why: I am a Libertarian. As such, Government interference in my life (either by limiting what I can do, or by forcing me to do things) is BAD. As such, I don't think the US government is doing a great job, but I don't know of anyone doing a better job. Most specifically, the soviets are NOT doing a better job. I like being able to post to netnews & play with personal computers, and I don't think that the soviet regime would let me do either. Secondarily, I think the soviets are out to conquer the world. Their actions indicate this, reports from people I consider reliable indicate this. Since I MUCH prefer the current government to what I perceive the soviet government to be, I have to favor US action aimed at stopping the soviets (NOT the Russians, the people who happen to be running their country). Since both L. & G. are strategically important, our actions in those countries are reasonable. <mike

#R:uokvax:5000011:uokvax:5000020:000:612 uokvax!andree Nov 15 16:52:00 1983 True, but as long as there are people outside the RA (Rationalized Anarchy) you will have to have a way of dealing with them. This is usually a small group of people (you can't involve everybody, unless they want to be involved) who can, for lack of a better term, be called government. And Facts is Facts: I don't know of any government (as in the above) doing a better job of non-intereference with it's citizens than ours. If you know of such, please tell me where they are, along with details as to why they are better. Pointers as to who to write for info on citizenship would be appreciated, also. <mike
