Thus I would love to see negligible cost and universal availability for these resources. Can you imagine having Soviet university students contributing to net.politics? These technological advancements are having a profound impact on politics, and not just through advertisements and the news. However it seems to me that the networks are overlooking an incredible opportunity; they should build their own version of a spy satellite! No trouble covering the Grenada invasion when you have a high powered telescope and radar mapper with which to watch the action. They could show us inside the USSR. The Playboy channel could really show you the girl next door. Well, even if they don't understand the potential there they are taking advantage of satellites to bring us live reports from around the world. I have an idea for an event that would dwarf even the moon landing. Suppose the networks all around the world simultaneously broadcast a live debate between the US president and the Soviet leader. What wonderful possibilities that has! Maybe they could defend their way of life; talk about imperialism and human rights. Why not include leaders from other countries? Here it is, five nights live from the UN buiding. East vs West. Watch out Dallas. Shaun Keller, U of IL
