It's interesting to note that Israel's concern for EACH of it's brave soldiers is so great that they would release 4500 PLO terrorists (including 63 extremely dangerous ones who were convicted to life) for 6 (six) Israelis, even knowing that those released would immediately re-begin to attack Israel's CIVILIANS. If only you Americans would learn some important ethics from Israel, you would be in much better shape. When 254 of your soldiers are murdered, you don't sit back and worry what the f--king U.N. says, you go in and blow the hell out of the little Communist nothings!

And the PLO is currently fighting itself, not Israeli CITIZENS. Of course, its cheaper to let them kill themselves then to feed them in jail. And since when did religious factions in Lebanon become "little Communist nothings"? We're supporting Moslems in Afganistan, you know.

This is the sort of mentality that keeps the Middle East in turmoil. Whenever some misguided Islamic nut shoots at an Isreali(sp), the air force runs out and blows up school or obstetrics wing of a hospital. Then two more arabic sleezeballs blow up a bus. The army then retaliates by leveling a town along the border. Neither side is willing to shoot at each others military targets. They would rather mash and maim the surrounding civilian populations. Don't tell me about killing the commies, the people over there are killing off the civilian populations while the litte commies are laughing up their sleeves. The US did not retaliate because there was NO REASONABLE MILITARY TARGET. The Isreali Air Force, on the other hand, rushed up to the BAKKA Valley and bombed and staffed everything in sight, military or not. If you call this enlightend revenge, then foo on you and all yours.

Israel released those prisoners because they wanted to support Arafat in his struggle against the PLO rebels and Syria, which is why they traded so many for so few. The last thing Israel wants is for the PLO to be controlled by people even more extreme than Arafat. In fact, among PLO factions, Arafat is moderate. Israel is very unhappy about the way in which the six soldiers were captured. They were eating at the time and didn't have a guard posted. The people who bombed the Marine base in Lebanon had nothing to do with Communism. They were Syrian backed Iranians (or Iranian sympathisers) who want the US out of Lebanon so that Syria can take over. Syria is a "friend" of the USSR, but they are not Communist.

You are about 50% correct. Yes, the PLO kills only CIVILIANS! But the Israelis only aim at MILITARY targets (the accuracy of the Israeli Air Force is about 92% perfect) ! All this talk of Israelis retaliating by leveling a hospital is 150% BULLSHIT! Tell me, whats wrong with the IAF retaliating over the murder of one of it's citizens?!! We're tired of people killing us because we're Jews, Now, finally , we can show them who's boss!

I believe that I missed most of this discussion. However, from rao's comments, I have deduced that there was a complaint that Israelis bombed a hospital. It is known that the PLO attacks the Israeli civilian population whenever it can. Do you sit back while they try to kill you? If you were in the same situation, you probably wouldn't! What really irks me is that the PLO *deliberately* places their military in the middle of the civilian population. The most recent case is Tripoli. Arafat placed is men and guns in the middle of the refugee camps, and the in the city itself. They do not care about the people. They are just trying to protect themselves regardless of the cost of human lives. They then accuse the people who fight back as barbarians because they kill civilians while attacking military targets. This is a standard method used by the PLO in trying to protect itself (use humans as protective shields). Even the people (such as the mayor of Tripoli) had asked the PLO to leave, but Arafat refused despite the retoric. How can you trust such people? Larry Koved
