I believe that Michael Condict has misunderstood Martin Taylor's arguments
about the value of "structure". He has seized on the mention of the
"Huntsville infrastructure" and from this apparently concluded that Taylor
believes that there is some special value in bridges, sewers, and the like.
I believe that Taylor's point is that some "worthless" projects have value
because of the knowledge gained from them and the social changes caused by
them. Any rational accounting will show that the spinoffs from NASA's
Apollo program have produced many times the value of the resources used in
the project.
