Net discussions of Jesse Jackson's campaign have missed at least one factor. Many people seem to assume he'll lose because he's black. One article at least alluded to the problem that bothers me: he's a Baptist preacher. Saying "he's a Baptist preacher" doesn't convey the problem. I heard about that before and thought Baptist = Christian = most of the people in this country. As a Libertarian, I was all set to vote for Jackson just to prove the point that a Black prez wouldn't make any difference. Then I saw him on TV. He was conducting a political meeting as if it were a revival meeting for an evangelical sect. Now I'm frightened. If Jackson thinks the way he talks, he would be a dangerous president. Thanks but no thanks. I survived four years under James Earl (born again) Carter. I'm open to argument on this. It may be that the networks showed that particular meeting to sabotage Jackson. Does he really think with his gonads (or encourage his followers to do so), or was that meeting a rare exception? -- Barry Gold usenet: decvax!{allegra|ihnp4}!sdcrdcf!barryg Arpanet: barry@BNL
