*								*
This just in (channel 7 eyewitness news, 11:05 pm 1/10/84):
[begin paraphraze]

The former husband of the actress Jennifer O'Neill
was aquitted of charges of illegal posession of a handgun.

[end paraphraze]

Pertinent other facts:
	1. Jennifer O'Neill shot herself "accidently" with a handgun
last year.
	2. At the time of the incident she was married to and
lived in the same house with the man above (his name was not given
out by the station).
	3. The incident took place in the house belonging to them.
	4. When asked to explain the presence of the gun in the house,
Ms. O'Neill said something to the effect of not knowing where it came
from.
	5. She was subpenaed to the trial, but did not testify,
claiming the right of a wife not to testify against her husband.
	6. The defendant was aquitted due to "insufficient evidence".
	7. Both members of that family have in the past been strident
anti-gun advocates.

Personal opinion (not endorsed by the management of this institution):

I think this is very silly. I would very much like to have seen an
application of gun control laws in this case.

Or any laws for that matter.

And so it goes....
