amra@ihuxj.UUCP (Steven L. Aldrich) (01/13/84)

See if you can guess who made the following statements, also
is the person a liberal or a conservative. Are the statements
accurate? Good luck, hope you enjoy this exercise in futility.

      1) "We should declare war on North Vietnam... We could pave
the whole country and put parking stripes on it, and
still be home by Christmas." (10-10-65)

      2) "There were two Vietnams, north and south. They had been
separate nations for centuries." (Jan. 1978)

      3) " Secretary of State Kissinger has expressed the view that
you and I, the American people, lack the will and the
stamina to do what is necessary to keep this country
           number 1." (6-27-76)
                                                          (6-27-76)

      4) "Those (nuclear weapons) that are carried in ships of one
kind or another, or submersibles, you are dealing there
with a conventional type of weapon or instrument, and
those instruments can be intercepted. They can be recalled."
                                                         (5-13-82)

       5) "History shows that when the taxes of a nation approach
about 20% of the peoples income, there begins to be a
lack of respect for government... When it reaches 25%
there comes an increase in lawlessness." (4-14-80)

       6) "There has actually been an increase in the number of
            accidents under O.S.H.A. (1-25-80)

       7) "I hear the downbeat talk about...hunger and so forth.
There'll be two times as many food stamps as there were
in 1978. The increase is that much." (3-24-82)

       8) "There haven't been cutbacks in funding for public education"
                                                            (5-23-83)

       9) "There is today in the United States as much forest as there
was when Washington was at Valley Forge." (3-5-83)

      10) "In the Great Depression, nothing like that (riots caused by
economic hardship) ever took place when the situuation was
            much worse." (1-5-83)

      11) "The world is experiencing a resurgence of deadly diseases
spread by insects because pesticides such as DDT have been
           prematurely outlawed." (5-10-80)
