[] I too saw the LaRouche broadcast last Saturday (it was on both the Rockford and Chicago, Ill. CBS stations, so I assume it was national). LaRouche is the head of something called the National Democratic Policy Committe (NDCP), which from what I have seen appears to be a well-organized bunch of loonies. When I lived in Los Angeles, members of the NDCP could generally always be found in front of grocery stores, handing out copies of their "newspaper," and other "information". I read one of these once. The lead story claimed that Prince Phillip was an advocate of genocide in third world countries, because he supported the protection of endangered species. They also accused Henry Kissenger, David Rockefeller, Paul Volker, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the entire British Royal family of taking part in several conspiracies (or maybe it was all the same one) to control the global economy to suit their own sinister purpose, and generally wreaking havoc in the Free World. They patted themselves on the back for exposing these conspirators to the public. It made for highly entertaining reading. They also are very vocal supporters of Reagan's "High Frontier" proposal (space based missile defense systems). They were out in the grocery store parking lots only days after Reagan announced the idea, handing out pamphlets on the subject, and collecting signatures in support of it. Lyndon LaRouche has been running for the presidency for many years, I believe, and rarely receives any more attention than any other fringe candidates. I don't think he has ever worked with any administration, but I could be wrong. What is worrisome is that here in DuPage County (Ill.), there are about 30 candidates affiliated with the NDCP running for many municipal offices, and local Democratic Party chairmanships and such, in the upcoming Democratic primary election. Many of them are unopposed, and furthermore, their NDCP affiliation does not appear on the ballot. It looks like they are attempting to take over the regular Democratic Party organization in the county by sneaking in the back door. I don't know if they are doing this I anywhere else.
