Let's not forget the responsibility of the US (and others before us) in creating the food shortages in some of the hungrier parts of the world. In Central America, for example, the US destroyed a diversified albeit subsistence agriculture, and replaced it with one-crop economies. The banana republics didn't used to be. Now, when these crops fail, which they do periodically, the people can't afford to buy the food they need (now imported), so they starve. Then they have the audacity to rebel against their duly elected US-backed dictators. Well, it's something to ponder over your next cup of coffee. -- *** *** JE MAINTIENDRAI ***** ***** ****** ****** 02 Feb 84 [13 Pluviose An CXCII] ken perlow ***** ***** (312)979-7261 ** ** ** ** ..ihnp4!ihuxq!ken *** ***
