[net.politics] little flame

saquigley@watmath.UUCP (Sophie Quigley) (02/04/84)

This is a very minor flame, but here comes:
If people really want to impress others by showing off how knowledgeable they
are in other languages, than they will do a much better job of it if they check
the grammar and spelling of what they are going to write before they write it.

Some people seem to think that throwing in little french sentences will make
them look more sophisticated, I don't know why they pick on french, but I just
wish they didn't. The results are simply dreadful. This happens in
net.politics much more than in any other newsgroup I suscribe to. I don't
know what that says about the people in the group, that is up to you to decide.

Anyway, I want all of you would-be french-quote-throwers to know that I am
french, and that I am not impressed and that I know that you are just pretending
to know french and are just trying to be cute, but you are not fooling me. It
is obvious from the types of mistakes you are making that you do not have a
clue as to what it is you are talking about!!
I think what you have done to my language is awful, and I shudder and I feel
very insulted each time I read such atrocities!!!!!

Now, I know you don't care the least bit about what I think, so I want you all
to know that I've got a little doll for each one of you, and I will stick a pin
in yours next time you do this. Don't say you haven't been warned!!!!!
