OK, Polli, it's your field. I gather (from the notes I've gotten from about 5 people who've sent you mail) that you are comparing me to Adolph Hitler, Joe Stalin, and such. I really don't understand why you get off pronouncing your foolish solutions as fact, and then calling everyone who wants to do something better bad names. <And you then accuse them of calling YOU bad names. BAH> You, sir, are (were) the most offensive writer whom I've ever dealt with in netnews. You have easily surpassed some really strong contenders for that spot, and I really hope that you are proud. In any case, the reason that I am writing this note is to grant you full license to pollute net.politics in any way that you like. I'm going to unsubscribe as soon as I use readnews to check on the correct transmission of this message. I will, sometime in the future, check on net.politics to see if it has returned from the current level of mud-slinging emotion to a level where SOME reasonable discussion can be carried out. I congratulate you on your effective censorship of net.politics by the technique of gross insult. I'm curious as to where you learned such an offensive technique. Perhaps from some of the folks that you insist on comparing me to? Perhaps you're just a genuinely nasty person? <If so, why do you care about starving people? Maybe you don't, since you don't want to help in a constructive manner, but I don't think that's true, I think you're too wrapped up in emotional raving to see beyond tomorrow.> As an aside to my other opponent who comments that it is still immoral to withhold food, I reply: It is both immoral and downright foolish to feed a person for a while, if you can't make damned sure that they can't feed themselves when you have to stop. You comment quite reasonably that starving people remember who didn't feed them. How do you think they will feel when you do feed them... FOR A WHILE? I'd like to send all the food surpluses (beyond sensible levels to be held for crop failures, etc) to starving people myself. I just want to see something ELSE sent along with that, something that will help better the situation of the people who would starve if you stopped. Sending the right seed stocks, making sure that corrupt local governments don't misuse them, that starving folks don't EAT their seed stock, that cultivation can be achieved, and that the land can be safeguarded from terrorists/enemies until harvest time is right. Sending enough food to ensure survival until crops can be harvested is an essential part. I'm open to ways that such things can be achieved. I'm not open to ways of enhancing misery. As a comment to both: The truly disgusting religions overtones in this discussion are unforgivable. Religion and moral behavior are two separate items, as the argument tactics in this group prove beyond doubt. If religion is so important, why do you not subscribe to the tenets of the religion that you insist on mentioning in every article? It's not my place to judge you, sirs, so I won't say what I've been lead to believe about you from your articles. I suggest that you learn to do likewise. -- TEDDY BEARS ARE PEOPLE, TOO!
