[net.politics] Using FASTFOOD Profits to feed hungry..

mr@isrnix.UUCP (Michael Regoli) (02/20/84)

In response to using TAXES to feed the hungry:

Since McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's boast the largest amount of
fastfood sales (and profits), what is so irrational as to suggest that
these companies subsidize the overseas feeding efforts!?

They are accustomed and geared to `Feeding the Masses', so why not
feeding the NEEDY and poor?

With profits in the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS...I don't understand why they
cannot divert their `good intentions' (if any) to feeding those who
need to be fed.

They have the market and resources to get cheap food and relatively cheap
help. The Peace Corps could distribute the Big Macs, fries and milk
(soft-drinks don't cut it..) in a fashion similar to current procedures.

Let them help. It's obvious no one else is.

Just imagine, if you will, One hamburger sent overseas for every one
(or hell, every two) hamburgers sold!!

Pass the catsup...
