[net.politics] US intervention in Iraq/Iran

, (sop to the blank line eaters--consider it a religious sacrifice)

The US may have a vested *ECONOMIC* interest in what happens in the
Middle-East region, but we have no moral right to interfer in what they
(quite justly) consider a local matter. More than half of the public
image problems that the US has in the world today would go away if we
quit getting involved in the petty squabbles of other people! We
could also save a fortune in foreign aid. :-)

We are told frequently that we should be our brother's keeper, but
have you asked him lately if he wants to be a kept man?

You are absolutely correct. Now, if you could only convince the US
Govt, the socialist liberals, and the religious conservatives to
quit trying to be my keeper.
