Just got wind of the latest Farrakan outrage, and just want to say some- thing very quickly (well, write it fast, anyway). On the serious side, IT STINKS!!! But it's unfortunate that I got wind of it in the course of a conversation with others who felt that he speaks for *ALL* blacks...and it's unfortunate that everytime a fool says something he gets more attention than those who speak with some sense...but that's the media's way of doing things, and it certainly doesn't make his statements any cleaner... it still STINKS!!! I only wish that right now, as soon as possible, Jesse would disassociate him- self and his candidacy from Farrakan. Why he doesn't is beyond me, but I do know that several black groups, the NAACP being one I just heard about, have rightfully condemned Farrakan and his statements. And personally, very personally, I'm getting very upset with what *I* perceive as a growing disdain for issues, even CONVERSATIONS, regarding minorities and women...this doesn't help at all!!! A black guy steals a purse from a white lady on a downtown street, and say it's your wife/mother/etc...and a another black man chases him down, catches him, and retrieves the purse... what's your feeling right then about blacks...was the chaser an exception and the crook the rule??? I wrote in an article to the net about the pride I took in Jesse's campaign in that it meant so much to me to even SAY a black was running for president, and like I say in most of my articles in this issue, I ALWAYS remember what it used to be like!!! I, and I'm sure a lot of other blacks, do not, and can not take pride in ridiculous statements by a******s of our race. Being a jerk is the not the exclusive property of any group. SO, no apologies for Farrakan, cause there was none for Manson, Speck, Hinckley, so on... no excuses for Jesse...I'd like to hear him repudiate that statement and Farrakan...just consider what you feeel is the exception and what is the rule...does Manson make all whites mass murderers if Farrakan makes all blacks anti-Semitic??? Maybe I'll come back in the morning and read this article and make changes/amendments, but I doubt it..it's from the heart!!! Why does the noise of one fool drown out the songs of a hundred?? dennis

I think 'Hymie' Jackson is being a little too hasty in disassociating himself from Farrakan's latest statements. He has a better chance of being nominated than he thinks :-). And if he is nominated, he'll need to chose a running mate. allegra!sdcrdcf!alan
