Wouldn't the following be a great commercial for ATT. The plot is based on a true incident. Fade in on Cuban soldiers surrounding a farmhouse where American soldiers fighting on Grenada have been trapped. Brutal officer rants, "We will slaughter the Yanqui imperialist dogs!" Fade in to farm house. American officer looks worried. A Non-Com looks at the Telephone, smiles, wips out his calling card, confers with the commander who tells him, "Go to it!." He dials. Fade in to Fort Brag. General's secretary answers, "Trapped. Where? Good work soldier, choppers on the way!" Back to the Cubans now being wipped by the helicopters. Final scene. Focus on non-Com. Behind him troops leading away captured Cuban prisoners. Non-Com smiles, holds up ATT calling card and affirms, "My calling card -- I never leave base without it." Fade back to the soldiers leading Cuban prisoners away. As the song "Reach out and touch someone is played" the GIs jab thei rifles into the Cubans backs to make them move quicker. Final scene in long version. Picture of Uncle Joe (Stalin) fades in. Underneath the caption: The telephone -- "No greater instrument for counterrevolution and conspiracy can be imagined." -- Who wouldn't break for whales? Yehoyaqim Shemtob Martillo

must find his presence in the AT&T commercials amusing, to say the least).

Uncle Joe would be right. The first thing the Polish military did in
their takeover was to cut off all telephones for several days, so
Solidarity people couldn't communicate until the takeover was complete.
