[net.politics] the NPR cross-section on the VEEPism of Ms. F.

gtaylor@cornell.UUCP (Greg Taylor) (07/13/84)

Last night, I happened to hear the latest consultations with
the 5 couples chosen by the NPR program "All Things Considered"
as their representative americans. Naturellement, they were
all primed to talk about Ms. Ferrara. For me, the most endearing
and cartoonish of the lot are an older couple somewhere in
Pennsylvania (I think)...obviously pretty strongly Republican,
and rather outspoken if unreflective (most of their interviews on
even the smallest subjects are peppered with informal fallacie,
the everr popular non-sequitur, and some real head-scratchers.

Mrs. whatsername's big complaint last night was that it was a
dark day because "a woman thinks with her heart, and a man
thinks with his head." She then pointed out that a woman wouldn't
push the button, because she's likely to think of the people on the
other end. BOth of these astute evaluations came in the midst of
mouthfulls of some tasty black beans and rice, and resulted in my
nearly redecorating the dining room in our humble hovel. My wife
didn't think it was at all funny.

That's what I call *real* food for thought....
