I heard this morning that Mondale has selected his running-mate--Geraldine Ferraro. This was breathlessly announced amid some hype about how courageous M. is to "choose a woman"(!!). I don't think it is courageous at all. In fact, to do the opposite would have been more courageous, given the current political climate vis a vis the matter of a woman running-mate. I think M. took the course that greatly enhances his chances of winning (I like the ring of that phrase!). It really is interesting to me that this move is apparently NOT viewed with suspicion, while Reagan's (admittedly feeble) attempts to curry favor with environmentalists is viewed with great suspicion--make that *GREAT* suspicion. I feel that both of these moves are motivated by the same desire--to become the next four-year resident of the White House. If one attempt is suspicious, so is the other. Comments, anyone? The worst you can say about Mondale's selection of running mate is that it was a pragmatic decision. -Ed Hall decvax!randvax!edhall

A recent posting says that the worst you can say about Mondale's selection of a running mate is that it was a pragmatic decision. Well, without even trying, i found something worst than that: it was sexual descrimination. sdcrdcf!alan (It's not a Mondale/Ferraro ticket; it's a Ferraro/Mondale ticket!)
