From the Chicago Tribune, July 20, 1984, by Storer Rowley of the Trib: COLUMBIA, S.C. - President Reagan told a summit of 15 Caribbean leaders here Thursday that the U.S. invasion of Grenada turned back a "communist power grab," ... He also denounced an election scheduled for November by the leftist government of Nicaragua as "a Soviet-style sham election." ---------------------------- I recall that a few months ago someone posted a prediction that Mr. Reagan would denounce the Nicaraguan election if Reagan did not like the results. Apparently, he is not willing to wait for the results. Can anyone provide the text of the President's remarks on Nicaragua? Also, how are election preparations and campaigning proceeding? Unfortunately, I will be leaving this location July 31, so responses after that will have to posted. Steve Sobek at ihnp!iwpba!sobek
