OK, you obvious democrats you. I want some fact. Show me the voting record of Ronald Reagan in the Senate or House on any of those budgets mentioned! Show me the record of Jimmy Carter while you are at it. Enough of this Hog Wash about which president did what with which budget!!! None of them did it. I am not even going to bother quoting relevant chapter and verse from the Constitution, you would ignore that also. Now, let's talk budgets! What is the voting record of House and Senate demos and reps? There is the meat of the subject. Who proposed what budgets and who made what ammendment suggestions and how did the vote go on those ammendments? I have my ideas of how they went, you obviously have Tip's. So let's get some facts about the PROPOSALS and VOTES to talk about, or else not bother with talking budgets. Besides, we all know that (:-)) Democrats don't think any budget is too large if it all goes to welfare and Republicans don't think any budget is too large if it all goes to defense. Tom Condon has a relatively novel (Republican?!?) view of the budget process, to wit, the President is NOT reponsible for budget deficits. Unfortunately for this view, the President is charged with drawing up a budget each fiscal year, and is empowered with a veto. Reagan had it right when he held Carter responsible for those 30 billion dollar deficits in 1980. Reagan drew up budgets which the Executive branch estimated would produce 200 billion dollar deficits, and sure enough, they did. Of course the President doesn't VOTE on the budget---he writes it!!! Only one President (Ford) was unable to enforce his budget through the veto, and so is to some extent forgivable (and blamable on those nasty Democrats). Reagan certainly has not had that problem. Reagan's advocacy of a Balanced Budget Amendment is like the death-row inmate who pleads "Stop me, before I kill again!". David Rubin {allegra|astrovax|princeton}!fisher!david

Neither Reagan nor Carter served in the House or Senate. There are no voting records to look at. Mike Kelly
