Well, now that the Democrats have made their choice, how does netland vote? If you would like to participate, mail your vote for president to me (path below). To make it more interesting, please include some demographic information. That way I can post not only overall results, but results broken down by voter characteristics. Suggested vote format (all optional, of course, except the first): Who you vote for (doesn't have to be Mondale or Reagan) Your age Your sex Your race Your social status (self-perceived, that is: low/middle/high) Your usual party affiliation, if any Your favorite news group Needless, to say, results will not be posted except in summary form (i.e., confidentiality will be maintained). -- Paul DuBois {allegra,ihnp4,seismo}!uwvax!uwmacc!dubois And he is before all things, and by him all things consist... My wife wants to vote for Bill the Cat, but will not unless she can be assured that such votes are counted and listed along with the other minor candidates. This brings to mind a gripe I had regarding this area. Some years ago, I tried to find out how many people had voted for "Pat Paulsen" and for the other such "irregular" write-in humorous or bizarre candidates. I could not. Digging through the reference material in the main St. Louis public library would disclose no more detail than an "other" category. Does anyone out there know where the real and detailed vote counts for national elections can be found? I want something that breaks it down to listing ALL the minor party candidates, and any write-ins who get at least 10 votes or so. (I suppose there are a bunch of people who write in their own name; that's who should be listed as "other"!) I would think that there would be many political scientists or sociologists who could use such data for research or theses; it must be available SOMEWHERE! But where?
