I have a great idea. Let's form our own political party, the "National Union for a Tolerant Society". Let's run Chuq Von Rospach for president, and T.C.Wheeler for VP. We can let the party initials tell the Elephantine Jacka**es what we think of the current candidates. Our slogan can be, "Everything in moderation, including moderation." Please note that neither individual named has been asked if they wish to serve. Frankly, I think they're both far too smart to want the job. For you serious political pundits: Why the H**L aren't you raising Cain about the "abortion" requirement for Supreme Court Judges in the Republican platform? Where are you, complaining about black humor when you could complain about something important. "Citizens hear me out! This could happen to YOU!" -- TEDDY BEARS ARE SOFT AND CUDDLY. TRY ONE YOURSELF! "Maybe I've been hoping too hard, ..." (allegra, harpo, ulysses)!rabbit!jj

Yup, I like this... an "invisible" party, made up of Usenet people, for moderation and the elimination of zealots. Why, the public associates the "New Technology" with great power and mystery... look at "Knight Rider" and all that crap. Well, Unix wizards giving our opinions over the net, unseen, heard only through 7-bit ASCII -- I bet that would impress the hell out of the little munchkins! America's Software Saviours! ("Who ya gonna call?...") Besides Chuq and T.C., how about Laura Chabot (sp?) for nomination to the Supreme Court... get those old pooftahs out 'a there, and install a 1200-baud terminal linked up to Laura's site. All I want in return for my support is that Jerry Boyajian and I can take over Sneak Previews from Neil Gabler and Jeffrey Lyons (can we shoot them? Can We?)... "Badges? We don't need no steenken badges!" Moriarty, aka Jeff Meyer John Fluke Mfg. Co., Inc.
