In article <drutx.1110> Tom Buckley gave us a lot of nice info. But there are 3 points he made that i wonder about. > > 1. "Aviation Week and Space Technology" Sept. 12, 1984. All the > Sept. and October issues have details about the crash, but the > 12th issue was the most informative.... > > This reveals that the 747 pilot did indeed acknowledge the > presence of interceptors, and that interceptor cannons were > fired... I can find nothing in the transcripts which reveal that the 747 pilot acked the presence of the interceptors. Also, there is nothing there to indicate that canons were fired, only missles. > > After > the transmission of "The target is destroyed" the pilots look > around for another 20 minutes, asking things like "What's the > target's altitude?" and "No, I can't see the target." This is > 10-15 minutes after the attack. > The last transmission of this type is 10 mins after the 'target is destroyed" msg. It seems quite reasonable to me. It could take several minutes for the plane to reach the ground, and there could be a fire when it did. The pilots could be trying to determine if it had yet reached the ground, and if so, where. sdcrdc!alan
