[] The following story is related in "Reagan Inside Out", by Bob Slosser, available for $12.95 at many Christian bookstores. Mr. Slosser is president of the Christian Broadcasting Network University. More than 50,000 copies have apparently been sold since the book was published last February. It seems Pat Boone and several other people called on the Reagans one Sunday in October 1970 (Reagan, of course, was Governor of California at the time). As the group was about to leave, someone asked Mr. Reagan if they could pray together for a moment. The group held hands and George Otis, a California businessman, prayed for a few seconds. Then, Mr. Otis later recalled, "The Holy Spirit came upon me and I knew it. In fact, I was embarassed. There was this pulsing in my arm. And my hand - the one holding President Reagan's hand - was shaking." Mr. Otis' prayer changed, Mr. Slosser wrote, and the words spoke specifically to Mr. Reagan, referring to him as "my Son." Mr. Slosser says they described Mr. Reagan as a leader whose work had been "pleasing." Then, as everyone's eyes were closed, the only sound was George's voice, which said, "If you walk uprightly before Me, you will reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue." According to the account, Mr. Reagan was not gushy or sentimental or any of that. It goes on, "He just said `Well,' and that was that." (Source: New York Times, Sept. 28 1984, A23:1)
