The Culture of Technology______________________________________________________ I haven't read Arnold Pacey's _The_Culture_of_Technology_, though I've seen some abstracts of it. Further thoughts along these lines are in the book _The_Turning_Point_, by Fritjof Capra (author of _The_Tao_of_Physics_). He makes many of the same points, and produces yet more evidence! Thomas Kuhn's _The_Structure_of_Scientific_Revolutions_ is also worth reading. Kuhn presents a theory that describes the advance of science in terms of paradigms - the prevailing theories - that are methodically utilized until anomalies appear. When the anomalies appear, science is thrown into a state of crisis until a new paradigm appears. An interesting view that I've applied to technology as well as to sci- ence; yielding insights similar to those in Pacey's and Capra's books! <_Jym_> :::::::::::::::: Jym Dyer ::::' :: `:::: Dracut, Massachusetts ::' :: `:: :: :: :: DYER%VAXUUM.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA :: .::::. :: {allegra|decvax|ihnp4|ucbvax}!decwrl!dec-rhea!dec-vaxuum!dyer ::..:' :: `:..:: ::::. :: .:::: Statements made in this article are my own; they might not :::::::::::::::: reflect the views of |d|i|g|i|t|a|l| Equipment Corporation.
