[net.politics] Zaccaro wants a cabinet post

According to a UPI article, John Zaccaro, husband of vice-presidential hopeful
Geraldine Ferraro, said he would sit in on cabinet meetings with his wife.
"I think I would insist on being there, just as long as they don't throw me
out," he said. Zaccaro continued, "Even if they didn't like it, I would sit
in." I bet he has a *coupla friends* that would help him make his point.

It seems to me that Zaccaro would benefit greatly from such high-level
participation in government. He could keep an eye on the Attorney General
to make sure the justice department wasn't getting close to indicting some
of his piazzano up in NYC. Maybe he could help out with naturalization and
immigration to expedite paperwork on friends and relatives from the old
country. The opportunities are endless.

I wouldn't mind him sitting in, as long as he places all his assets in a
blind trust. :-)

Disclosure time!

I wonder if Mr. Zaccaro would be so kind as to inform the electorate
what *else* he would "insist" upon?

Ah, I understand, all Italian Americans are in the Mafia. Thanks for
enlightening me...

Please keep your racial slurs to yourself. Thank you.

Maybe I should have used my mother's maiden name when I posted this note.

>Please keep your racial slurs to yourself. Thank you.

I believe you meant ethnic rather than racial in that last sentence. No
matter, it wasn't intended as a slur anyway. What I intended to do in
that note was to show (humorously) how a small segment of individuals who
are not at all representative of the larger group can gain all the (negative)
publicity. Italians have always been considered part of the "mob" even though
organized crime figures represent an insignificant number of Italian-
Americans. Does the IRA represent all Irishmen or does Louis Farrakan
speak for all blacks? These groups in no way speak for the whole and we should
repudiate both their words and their actions. John Zaccaro and his
associates in organized crime have hurt all Italian-Americans in there
search for equality and freedom.

BTW, the Philadelphia Inquirer (Sunday, 10/21) did a two page spread on
Zaccaro and his friends in the Mob.
