[net.politics] Taxes and the Deficit- Apologies to George Lake

tan@ihu1e.UUCP (exit) (10/31/84)

Whoops, I goofed when I criticized George Lake's contention
that the "hidden tax" due to Reagan's deficit amounted to
15% of the average wage earner's income. I took the 150 billion
dollar figure to be the total national debt, rather than the
annual deficit which it is.
Gee, I never realized how bad it was. $3000 per family
per year. Egads. I was going to vote for Mondale anyway due
to Reagan's abysmal environmental record, his total lack of
interest in arms control, and the total disregard for civil
liberties and the separation of church and state that he has
and his future Supreme Court apointees probably will have.
Now I've got another reason.
