[net.politics] Fuzzy headed liberals: Part II

rfs@loral.UUCP () (10/31/84)

Well I'm glad to see there are level headed and reasonable people on
the net	such as	Milo and Simard. You fuzzy headed liberals use	the
'squeeky gear' theory.	Your always on the net yelling liberal views
the LOUDEST.

The claim that Jimmy's fruits were bearing in El Salvado is crazy. They
damn near went communist. Ronnie put a	halt to	that fast. In fact the
the spread of communisim for the last four years is -1 (Grenada). Under
Carter it was +2. Nicaragwa and Afganistan. The Russians saw him as a
WIMP when he did'nt have the BALLS to save his own people. They (Soviets)
figured	if he won't save his own people he surely won't	commit troops to
Afganistan to save goat	farmers	---- So	they invaded and they were right.
He was and is a	wimp.

Sure wish you fuzzy headed liberals would quit doing what Mondale taught
you. Quit lying about what Reagan will	do. How in the	hell do	you know
what he	is going to do. All around the	country	Mondale	spreads	this lie
that Reagan is going to	'secretly' raise taxes. Now you liberals 'know'
for sure its going to be a value added tax (VAT). The man (Reagan) has
said he	will only raise	taxes as a last	resort. Mondale promised to raise
taxes as a FIRST resort. Of the two men which one has given you a tax
reduction....REAGAN!

Yes I'm voting from my pocket book. It does'nt	make a bit of sense for
me to go into personal debt because of the national debt. When	I was
boarn they were	doing deficit spending and they	will probably do deficit
spending when I	die. Don't kid anybody you liberals are voting with
your pocket book too. All you're concerned about is what type of
federal	grant money you	can get	from us	the TAX	PAYERS.

I'm voting for Reagan and I'll will influence everyone I can to	do the same.
I'm hoping for a huge land slide victory to finally FLUSH Fritz Mondale
out of our political system once an for	all!

Reagan isn't a wimp? Somebody made the (very good) point that at least Carter
tried to do something about the hostages, and nobody did get killed, whereas
three times so far, we've been bombed in Lebanon and Reagan hasn't lifted
a finger, either to retaliate or to to prevent it from happening again.
Pretty wimpy, I'd say.

Also, you seem to have a very simple-minded idea of foreign policy -- stopping
communism (Leninism, that is) is the most important foreign policy goal
of the US, but you can't just count governments like you are doing. Reagan
has (arguably) prevented the spread of communism, but at the expense of
making some of the most repressive anti-communist regiemes worse, and making
it easier for the communists to take over in the future.

I won't say things were better under Carter, or will be under Mondale. The
fact is that since Nixon our prestige in the world has been going steadily
downhill, and neither of the candidates now are likely to stop that decline.

Nobody got killed? Surely the photos of the slain US servicemen who made the
rescue attempt havent slipped your mind? The troops in Lebanon died because
an enemy was shooting at them. The troops in Iran died purely out
of poor mission planning and the watering down of the scale of
the operation by Carter himself. One thing Reagan hasnt done is tried to
use irresponsible restaint when the US engages in military action.
Reports say that the Grenada invaision was almost totally planned
by the military, with almost no intervention by the white house.
Reagan knows to let the military professionals do what they do
best, I doubt Mondale would be the same way.

Please let us know what action involving troops you would propose after
the Soviets invaded Afghanistan (a land-locked country adjacent to the
USSR). Perhaps you would call for a full scale airborne assault from
US carriers based in the Arabian Sea, or maybe Pakistan would let us
use their nation as a staging area for a land assault? Maybe we ought
to invade Cuba in retaliation?

There are a lot of people who are both fed up with Carter and disagree
with President Reagan's macho chest beating. It was time long ago for
the U.S. to stop supporting right-wing dicatorships just because
they are anti-communist. This country's proper position ought to be
as the protagonist of democracy, rather than merely as the antagonist
of communism.

As a case in point, consider India. Whatever its problems, including
the actions of Indira in 1975, this country is the largest democracy
in the world. However, because she has refused to cater to the demands
of the U.S. by remaining one of the non-aligned nations, and also due
to its underground testing of a single nuclear device in 1974, relations
between the U.S. and India have been strained for years. We have
consistently backed her antagonists (Pakistan in particular, whose
president Zia gained power during a coup in July 1977) and the amount
of aid given to India is ridiculous considering it's size, it's potential,
it's problems, and the fact that it is a TRUE DEMOCRACY.

Nobody got killed during the hostage crisis? Tell that to the
families of the aborted rescue mission people that Carter and his
cronies emasculated halfway through the operation.
