[net.politics] volunteers: Declaration of Independence

gam@amdahl.UUCP (Gordon A. Moffett) (11/06/84)

Continuing the great work begun with the transcription of the Constitution
of the United States, I am calling for volunteers to help transcribe,
proofread, and format the Declaration of Independence.

If you are interested, please write and I will allocate sections
for transcription. (This is a much shorter work than the Constitution).

Hopefully other transcriptions of important historical documents
will be taken up later.

I have a copy of the DOI that I saved off the net. It does not use
any nroff directives, but seeing as it is a short, "sectionless" document,
there is no need to use nroff. Let me know if you (anybody that is) want
me to post it.

P.S. As to the transcriptions of other important historical documents,
the USSR constitution is an excellent candidate. Seriously! I have
read it in the past and its contents and the level of freedom, hope,
peace, etc. it promises are unique.

While you guys, gals, and others are at it I'd like to have the Rules
to Diplomacy in electronic form. I realize this is much more important
than things like the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, but
I'll bet a lot more people will request and save these rules.

[I'm not a stranger, just a friend you haven't met yet.]
{Too bad I don't meet more people}

It has come to my attention and to my mailbox that there is already
typed in the Declaration of Independence. I will now add some suitable
nroffing and repost it later.

Thanks to all who volunteered.

There is still the Constitution (Fundamental Law) of the USSR, the
Japanese Constitution, the Candian Constitution, the Magna Carta,
the Bible (in various versions), the Tao te Ching, and all Shakespeare's
plays yet to do!
