[net.politics] Want to escape Reagan? Try Canada

peterr@utcsrgv.UUCP (Peter Rowley) (11/22/84)

After the Nov. 4 election, some Americans may well find the spectre of living
under 4 more years of Reagan rule unappealing. Canadians such as myself
certainly find the new conservative government *here* less than heartening,
but infinitely better than the southern counterpart, and we still do have
effective (and efficient) universal medicare, effective gun control,
eminently livable cities, and generally a lifestyle most Americans would
be quite happy with. As well as a good, if small, hi-tech sector, with
world leaders in communications (land and space based), particularly.
I'm sure a local Canadian consulate or the Canadian Embassy in Washington
would be able to provide more information, if only on tourism. It's a nice
place to visit too.
