>> Sigh. How many times does it have to be said. The Nazis (National >> Socialists) were *left* wing radicals. It says so right there on the >> label. >Sigh, indeed. I've been through this rather often myself. Yes, >they *called* themselves "socialist", but that doesn't mean they were. >Are the "Scientific Creationists" scientific because they say so? >Socialists believe in state control of the means of production. The label `National Socialism' is of course a contradiction in terms. Socialists beleive apart from control of the workers about the means of production, also in solidarity between workers of all nations. Now I'm at it, what does `left' mean in general. In the Netherlands it used to be a generic term for every party not supporting the ruling administration,; left because they where seated left of the table of the governement in the parliament. So whenever there was a principal change in the administration, people shifted around. Currently it is most used as in the next picture: progressive <-> midldle of the road <-> conservative || || || left centre right In general it is very poor practice to speak about `right' or `left', especially since a group advertising themselves as `leftish' can have very conservative ideas. jaap akkerhuis (mcvax!jaap) CWI Amsterdam
