[net.politics] Handgun Control, Inc.

Several people have asked me about the organization Handgun Control, Inc.,
so I am posting some information about it.

It was started by Pete Shields, a former hunter and gun owner, after his
son was shot to death by one of the so-called "Zodiac" killers in
San Francisco. He studied firearms legislation and decided that an
effective national gun control law would be a good thing.

It currently has about a million members. It is "a non-profit citizen's
organization working to pass federal law to keep handguns out of the wrong
hands."

You can get more information by writing

Handgun Control, Inc.
1400 K Street, NW
Suite 500
Washington, DC 20005

or calling (202) 898-0792.

Ask for their brochure, "Handgun facts".

Another organization working towards similar goals is the
National Coalition to Ban Handguns. If anyone is interested,
I will also post their address.
