[net.politics] Our Terrorists

berman@ihlpg.UUCP (Andy Berman) (03/28/85)

   Quote of the Day:

  Senator Claiborne Pell (R.I.):
"I think it's hypocritical to talk about wanting to
eliminate terrorism in the world when we are supporting
people seeking to overthrow a government. I call the
     Contras our terrorists."

..spoken after the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted
yesterday March 27, to prohibit any US foreign Aid money to be used to support
the Contras fighting the Nicaraguan Goverment.

      Is the White House listening?

And one from George Bush, Feb 28 1985 (this is the self-referential one):
"We really want to think about this: do we want
the virus of international terrorism to infect the
	continent of North America?"

Oh yes, Senator: Next the U.S. will be wanting to overthrow
the U.K., France, W. Germany, Italy for good measure. We
love overthrowing governments!

The Honorable Senator would no doubt defend the "Libyan
Government" and the "Iranian Government" along the same lines.
It would never occur to him that such "governments" could be
terroristic.

No doubt he has never fully recovered from the most brutal
overthrow of the Nazi Government. Such uncivil behaviour by
those professing to be civil, what?
