[net.politics] Libertarianism in the real world: The C.C.E.

fagin@ucbvax.ARPA (Barry Steven Fagin) (04/04/85)

Those of you out there who view libertarianism as an academic exercise
in futility might be interested to hear of the Council for a Competitive
Economy. CCE experts testify in Congress regularly on behalf of
unilateral free trade, tax reform, and the removal of governmental
barriers to competition and innovation. According to their prospectus,

"The Council for a Competitive Economy, an affiliate of Citizens for a
Sound Economy, is a national membership organization of businesses and
individuals dedicated to the free market. The Council emphasizes the
justice, as well as the efficiency, of economic freedom and free trade.
The Competitive Economy Foundation is the research and educational
affiliate of the Council."

CCE publishes a quarterly newsletter, "Competition". The most recent
issue deals with the suspension of agricultural marketing orders by the
USDA, why the SBA should be abolished, and privatizing Social Security
through the expanded use of IRA's (among other topics). If you'd like
to find out more about CCE, their address is:

The Council for a Competitive Economy
		122 C Street NW
		Washington DC 20001
		(202) 638-1401

CCE is also affiliated with Citizens for a Sound Economy, "a public-
interest advocacy group that supports consumers' freedom of choice in a
market economy".
